Caroline combines a lifelong passion for landscapes and gardens with creating beautiful spaces which establish a natural harmony with their surroundings and reflect the needs of their owners.
Galvanised by the pandemic in 2020, Caroline decided to follow her heart and retrain at The English Gardening School at Chelsea Physic Garden to obtain her Garden Design Diploma graduating with Distinction.
Originally training as a chartered accountant, Caroline previously worked as a consultant and in house for large multinational companies designing organisations, leading teams and delivering transformation across large complex global projects.
Caroline’s gardening roots go back to childhood: she was raised in a family of garden lovers and studied English Gardens when she read History at Exeter University. She has subsequently gained significant experience developing and extending her own gardens, which continue to be work in progress, and planting the gold medal winning Morris & Co garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2022.
Caroline believes a garden should be sensitive to its surroundings, sitting softly with the environment and working with nature.
Buildings should relate to their setting and a garden can enhance that relationship, creating a sense of place and wellbeing.
Her aim is to combine a detailed understanding of how clients want to enjoy their outside space with a commitment to sustainability.
From country gardens to town gardens, Caroline’s designs bring colour, scent, texture, structure and scale.
To achieve this, she will acknowledge the context of the landscape, consider the environmental impacts of making changes, promote biodiversity and respect nature, as she creates and nurtures beautiful places.
Caroline is a Pre-Registered member of the Society of Garden Designers and a volunteer for Horatio’s Garden.
